Reforger 1985

Reforger was a training exercise that took place in Germany during most of the Cold War. I took part in Reforger in the winter of 1985 (January 19th - 31st).

In this picture, the sign on the front of the M113, "The Rock or Bust", refers to Ayers Kaserne in Kirch Gons, Germany, our home away from home. Best known as the rock. I was part of C Company 2nd 36th Infantry which was part of the 3rd Armored Division.

I've added a few other pictures at flickr.

I was there with the 503rd MP CO out of 3AD, from Frankfurt. I don't remember where it took place, but I was one of the people who came back with frostbite. It was damn cold out there!

Hi Richard,
It's John Victor (Spc 4) from your platoon. Hope you remember; I left in October 1984. Was looking at stuff about "the rock" and saw your blog page. The picture of you, Kainer and (E)sparza brought back memories of when we were young...Nice to see you are doing well and have a nice looking family. What a shame the post has been torn down as it brings back some good memories, although we did not think so at the time! My e-mail is jvictor777@hotmail.com.
