Kirchgoens Germany Revisited

This is an update from my last post. After more than 20 years, I was finally able to talk to one of my old Army buddies. Tim is as cordial and friendly as I remember him to be. As I imagined, we reminisced about our time in Germany and I was amazed at how easy it was to walk someone through twenty plus years of my life in just a few minutes. We plan on staying in touch and if things work out well, we won't let another 20 years of friendship pass us by.

Is there an old friend in your life that you need to get in touch with?

Hi there, I was stationed at "the rock" from march 1985 to November 1986. I was in Bravo company 2/32. If you know of anyone who may've been stationed there please feel free to have them corespond. I know My best friend (Dean Allagreen) of Utica, Michigan was killed in a plane crash 6 or 7 years ago. But I'd very much like to hear from anyone. Thanks.

Kirchgoens, didn't know it as the "Rock", must have come after my tour from early '62-late '64. Sp-4 Bob Lamascus, S-4 Section, Svc Btry, 2/3FA. Good times and not so good times, and it was all slow motion time for 32 months. You'd think I'd hightail it out of there but discharged at Frankfurt and traveled Europe for 9 months. Caught last troop ship out of Bremerhaven; shipping needed for the Nam. Best regards to all soldiers.

I was stationed there from 77-79, we called it "The Rock" I believe because we were on top of a rock in the valley, but I would say because we were the rock of the 3rd armour division, I was in the 2/36 infantry battalion Charley co. We concord many division awards and gladly accepted the Challenge and Awards for No1. I would like to know how to meet more commorades from that time and era, if anyone can direct me please contact me.. how i got here was the question of what beer we drank and that was licher bier.

I may have just missed him. I'm checking with a few other guys from the unit to see if they remember him. How's he doing?

Rich,
I don't drop many lines, but for some unknown reason I did a word search for Hard Rock Charlie (C Company 2-36 Infantry) and your BLOG popped up. I thought of that M-113 accident when your were the TC, the M-113 and threw track and you all ended up off the road (and I believe hit a tree). As I recall you got hurt pretty bad. You broke your jaw and busted up your front teeth, Esparza got his bell rung real bad from the drivers seat, and CPL Collis broke his ribs in the back if the vehicle. His dog tags were jammed into his chest). That was about the last time I saw you. Sorry about only remembering the bad stuff. I do hope all is OK.
You were always one of the clever individuals. Back in the day, I looked up to you and a few others for all of the answers. (I was just a dumb new guy.)
Note: Ayers Kaserne was torn down in the mid to late 90's. I drove by on the way to a wedding in the mid 2000's and it was flattened. The 5 buildings outside of post were still standing but all shut down. The Germans use it as a Cargo Holding area for the Frankfurt International Airport.
Good luck in life Teddy P
